Radiant Smile

greet us
some everywhere

some upside down
tightened at the corners
for storm or foul
weather inside

the world changing
prepared for hail
locusts
loose change
that falls from the
fretted fabric of pocket
lend

hot is the day
so soon
the ice has fled

and smiles are loans
of the heart
forgiven in rain
soaked
downpours

Fretted fabric of pocket lend

I love that image He who has loaned too much. Your words are sensuous on the body of my mind...why the hell has no one else noticed???? That last verse and smiles are loans of the heart forgiven in rain soaked downpours scrumdeldilyumptious Seabhac

Are you an artist also?

I paint and sketch want to get back to it so much time now Its raining finally but the oustide chores some or most were attended too sitting listening to music on utube and writing the rain falling outside in the darkness dripping from the eve to the ground a story yet below the dreams of night beckoning Esker~

Ah the pattern is clearer now

Yes I am a textile artist I see most of life as sensual and tactile, in colour or subtle muted tones....wool is my paint, my soul's expression but I have discovered how to speak words through poetry and love to merge both. Seabhac

the world changing prepared

the world changing prepared for hail locusts loose change that falls from the fretted fabric of pocket lend hot is the day so soon the ice has fled I love how you imply the end of the world with all these suggestions, and in a poem about smiles, and so - about masks. That's why they're 'forgiven in rain soaked downpours', because if the smiles are genuinely altruistic, then what's there to forgive? In a crisis, we don't care so much about the masks, because there's too much else to worry about. Interesting poem.

in crisis

I grew up with smiles learned to mask sometimes there are those who are freed to jump right in natural is the skin to help to move when all about is tragic sometimes its just an urge to get people directed I have seen this day to day and the sun shines on the rain falls the masks in their proper place deflect like safety glasses or hearing devices when the distractions become too loud we keep going Thank you
