We walk through our ordinary days

Trying to get from here to there

with different pieces missing

We sometimes stumble across them

Some have a tenuous hold

Some are more recognizable

stirring unexpected inspirations

The memories begin as a ripple

almost imperceptible, but rising

until they are ready to stand and deliver

a smile in our hearts against the gray of loss

that we pass through every day

Leaving the irretrievable far behind

Hi P.O.R

Thanks for taking the time, and for the kind words. Perhaps you are a bit too harsh in regard to your thoughts as I'm sure I would have enjoyed reading your comments anyway. I was trying to convey some thoughts about the recovery of a sense of well being as loss progresses, hopefully, to a more tolerable place. Best Mike

Hello

Sometimes those retrieved memories can be painful, as well. Painful, but necessary to complete the picture, so in that way they are also a blessing. That's what I call a double edged sword. I really liked this piece. Always, Cat
