Stationary Dance

Woman spills herself before me,
just her thoughts, her feelings,
nothing more.
No flood of guts or bile.

I don't care to listen.
My ears would rather not hear.
They don't like the way her words
beat against their drums, like
children with pots and pans in mama's kitchen.

I won't write about what she has to say,
but Pen and Paper have a different plan.

Pen smiles again. I am uncertain,
but I swear Paper grins as well.
It isn't often that
they are given the chance
to enjoy such a moment.
Such a time as when I pretend to listen.

I scowl and resent their pleasure
as Pen scratches into Paper,
bleeding all over him.

Pen is some kind of sadist,
and Paper just takes it,
proudly donning his scars of blue.

They will be happy for a while.

And if permitted, they will stay together all night,
making me watch their sick game
as the woman spews and they
dance and yelp and bleed
all over my desk.

I like it

It tells how the pen and paper take you over even when all you want to do is lie down or chuck them across the room. I've had that a few times. Love, Alice Carrying your own battle scars is a sign of your own strength. Carrying others battle scars is a sign of your very soul.

I love the instict and

I love the instict and flavor of your distast, and your pleasure Kelsey. How your hiding behind the facade of listening, endulging the masses to write something mundane and personal. It was even bloody, I thought it perfect. You already said you will fix with your graded copy. So I will just enjoy, as usual. Look forward to learning the title. Julie D.D.

Wow, Kels,

this is one of your best, powerful writing! I loved how the pen and paper each took on a personality here. Just waiting for the title now... Yours, ~Nina

Ah, you titled it!

I like the title, only one question though, Kels: Stationary or stationery? They would both work... Yours, ~Nina

Stationary/Stationery

I guess my answer would be: exactly! I was going for that play-on-words feel, so I used the 'incorrect' one. Does that make sense? Kelsey PS: thank you!

You have no idea how much your amazing comment means to me! Kelsey "In criticism I will be bold, and as sternly, absolutely just with friend and foe.
