IN MEMORY OF ROBERT JOCKERS, AN ATTORNEY, THE SINGER, THE FRIEND

Why'd he loose his beautiful life
A man so bright and true
His eyes of sparkling blue
An attorney, an artist, a friend indeed

A man as he, a mind so bright
What happened to him, just late last night
That beautiful face, his beautiful smile
Leaving us shocked here, we sit for awhile

Here we're baffled, gone is he
Why oh why someone tell me please
How could a soul be gone that fast
Was it loss of a love, that made him pass

Hard to write this piece about him
We'll never forget his smiling grin
Oh Dear Robert where have you gone
No longer to see you, or hear your song

I wish I'd taken more time to talk with you
Would it of changed your feeling so blue
Could it have stopped you, from bearing your life
From all your hurts and all your strife's

The Lord only knows how a person feels blue
Inside his heart crushed, no one really knew
All your friends with family mourn today
We feel the pain, now you've gone away

Those old blue eyes, glistened with love
For now you leave us to the heaven's above
You'll always be remembered in a special way
My, oh Lord, this is such a sad day.

We'll never know why this man so true
Was thinking about that night so blue
All the memories we'll share of you
Forever the days we'll miss and love you too..

Thank you as my heart is breaking today over this fine

Man he was Ephy. He could play a quitar and sing like old blue eyes. Frank Sinatra we even told him that several times. I sat here this morning in tears and wrote this poem of him. It is a sad day in the City today for his loss. Why oh why did he have to go. Another poem I shall write perhaps, and thank you for the comment as I know it comes from your heart. Love You My dearest friend Eph Hugs to you and thank you too xoxoxoxoxoxoxo Learn to live, learn to forgive. Life is too short.

ephy why did you delete that

Your comment was accepted by me and please put it back up. You were only telling the truth as some people do not care of feelings of others. I appreciated it and I felt the same way that it was a bit on the sarcastic note Love Mona Learn to live, learn to forgive. Life is too short.

Is this a comment of the poem kali?

This is a true story about a friend, just happened last nite. I did'nt know if you were being commentary or critiquing my poem. I kind of took it a little too bland for a critique. But thanks anyhow Love Magics02 Learn to live, learn to forgive. Life is too short.

May your dear friend rest in peace

That was beautiful, magics02, and very thought-provoking, as good poetry is meant to be, it makes me wonder about life and why some people can't bear it, if we could've changed the outcome... Was it intentional to alternate between talking to your friend, in the second person, and narrating? My suggestion, only an idea, is to have the parts where you talk specifically to Robert separated, that way it's clearer when you are "breaking away from the poem" and talking to your beloved friend. -Jhena

Yes I see that and I thank you so much

Mariposa I have been shocked with the whole thing. I just hugged and kissed him at work on Wednesday when he was at the front counter. He took out his phone and told me he was playing this Saturday night and to come. I was going to go and decided not to and when my cousin told me what happen at 11:30 last night I sat in disbelief. You would of never thought this man would do his self in and I am hoping he did not, He had everything foing for himself and I can not for the life of me wonder why he would throw it all away. That is why I say in the poem you just don't know how a person who may smile at you really feels when inside when they are alone in their sorrow. To me nothing in life is worth taking your life but then again I was not walking in his shoes or his heart or anyones else. I just pray for him and all his loving family and friends, He was so very well known, It will be a sad day at work when the Judges and lawyers from out community find out if they don't know allready. I am saddened but know he is in another place a safe place from sadness and sickness and whatever it was that was eating him up. Thank you for your sweet comments and I appreciate your take on the poem. I will look at what it is also that you suggested, this was a poem I did in 20 minutes so I am sure I will come back and tweak it. Yes I see it verse five when I did break away to put my own feeling in there and that was intentional. Is that the only place you seen it let me know and I thank you again, truly. Love, Mona

I understand what you mean

I just lost a friend who was always smiling on the outside...i knew he wasn't doing well for a while but thought he was doing better, he'd gained weight, he was smiling again, radiating energy...I don't know how he died, there are rumors that he took his life...i still cry when I think of him, how i just was making small talk the other day with him and he was gowing and smiling...to add to this whammy i came home a couple of weeks ago to find a notice under my door that a neighbor I really liked had a heart attack and had died. I was so sad, he was a beautiful person and now I'm going to stop writing about it, because I'm tearing up again.. xoxo and you have my empathy Jhena

like the revision

I like this revision much better, it's more cohesive and logical. I also like that you added more descriptions of your friend in there, he sounds like a wonderful man and I as the reader wish I'd met him. Hugs whenever you need them, Jhena
