He's My Dad

You took him away
The one man I depend on
And you took your selfish dreams and fulfilled them
With no regard for mine.
He is my best friend and I trusted you to love him like I do.
To hang from his every word
To remember the shade of his brown eyes
The pattern of his hairline.
He has been there from the beginning
And will be until the end.
So take him as far as you like,
The end of the country, the continent, the earth,
You can take him to a different universe
But he's my father
And he'll always be mine like I'll always be his.

Beautiful sentiments

The anger (well justified by the circumstance) shows through and electrified this reader. True! There are some things you never loose and a great relationship between a father and child is one of the top ones.

Happy, Happy

Losing a father. I don't know your age but it certainly is too early and no time is a good time. About the same time you were uploading this poem I was uploading one on the same subject oddly enough except it was my take on a father losing a son. "A Second Kind Of Love" I put up that poem thinking of you and wanting to share a sad poem like you have done. I am looking for another one about a young girl whose father had terminal cancer and how that made me feel. Hope I can find it. BTY, girl, under "All I can think about" you said you might do a happy poem. Still waiting. I know it is in there.

“out of a storybook” was

"out of a storybook" was my main attempt at happiness but it became ironic and cynical toward the end. Also, just to be clear please don't mistake this as my father having died. This poem is simply me expressing my anger at the fact that he left us and moved away and the feeling that his now fiance 'stole' him away from me. It sounds like nothing but he really is my best friend and did have a HUGE impact on me.

Thanks

Thanks, I thought that could be the case. But no less a loss for now at least.
