Anzac: The Broken Landing

The luminous glow of the early morning

before the sun appeared in the sky

climbing a harsh unforgiving landscape

they scrambled for footings

into deep sandy crevices

defeated by Turks hiding at the top

leaving a memory in the yellow sand

their hats lie where they once stood

I'd love to see your artwork, Fleur. What joy creating words & word paintings. Can you provide a link to share? How are you feeling? Hugs, Anna "To love another person is to see the face of God." Les Miserables

Art sparks art

I love it when art sparks art. In this case it will be art sparks art sparks your painting. Cool!! I cannot resist one word suggestion; How about the word “red” in front of the word “memory” in line 7. IMHO you don’t need to say “defeated by Turks” The “Turks hiding at the top” says it all. And crumple the hats – symbolic of defeat. What great inspiration for a poem

Thanks CLem,

but you can keep your "red" as I feel Gallipoli back then was confronting enough...but thanks anyway, glad you liked it... :)f
