Fixed formula.

Time-pieces tick.

Tomorrows become todays.

Todays wane

become yesterdays.

We circulate

the confinement of count

capturing

stories, photos, letters, sketches.

Scraps.

Cenotaphs long gone

embraced tomorrow

admit yesterday

with a picture,

melody,

phrase.

About This Poem

About the Author

Region, Country: Western Australia, AUS

Favorite Poets: Favourite poets? So many, so varied. I like particular songs, not necessarily the singer... and the same goes for poetry. I can honestly say though, that Alfred Noyes' The Highwayman was what inspired my love of poetry - my mother began reading it to me when I was still a baby, and it became my favourite bedtime story

And a piece of ribbon on a medal from the first world war

Ann of Norway Dear judyanne with your lovely memories, And a piece of ribbon on a medal from the first world war and so the memorabilia grows and we don't know where to store it or display it, some gets hidden i drawers some framed, like the Christening gown of my grandmother's that my cousin has framed under glass it looks so beautiful, not faded so much. My house is mixed though as most of my memorabilia is in the form of stones and bones and feathers and shells and such things that I treat as the same worth and am sad if I loose a special one of them, so its easy to please me with a gift of a stone, I don't need anything else. And yet the old brooches are the finest designs, the modern ones not s,o unless one has a mint of money in the bank of course as good design always exists, but ....just but. One of many is my grandmother Young's tiny picture of St Christopher, now an obsolete saint, much loved by her family, the gown or habit of the saint is made of those most wonderful glistening butterfly's in the most intense blue and it changes colour as you rock it, i asked my mother if there was anything I would have from her mother it was that, no because I was religious but its calm gentle nature I loved, I have it here now in front of me. So it is. Could write more, heaven forbid I hear tut tut but must dash to London annanya
