Pascal often thought about the passage of time and our duty to it, stressing that our preoccupations with the past and its errors and the hopes and stresses of the future weighed down the consciousness in the present. His goal was to be fully arrested by the present and aware of each moment as it happens, instead of being absent in thought and mind with current processes. To pay homage to the beauty of current movement and be weightless now and again in order to fully recieve the present. My mind wanders and I can't always live up to that ideal, and really if you look at the quantity of the past and the future, there is only a tiny bit of the present and a massive amount of time apart from the present. I have other structured ideals that I revolve around but remain forever made aware and inspired by Pascals take on that. I really liked this, it speaks volumes to me.
