TREMBLING LIGHT

Twisting stems of glasses
in nervous expectation.

Foliage fights the verdant room
and flooding light
glints in your
eyes,
gentle probes and subtle blushes
we search and catch the
look that holds a
second
too
long.

Feel the lingering aura of
the space.

Come to search my kaleidoscope soul,
you take my hand and turn
the pegs
in round
holes,
they slot into place.

Guided by the crafted truth
of blinding attraction,
so obvious,
it's trembling light
shapes and
smoothes
the pegs.

They fit.

Hi, Not sure i'm good at poetry...just enjoy the process and i'm constantly trying to develop my craft. Have learnt a great deal from my fellow poet pals...and I'm going to try different genres from my usual autobiographical...it's time. Ells.

This one is certainly

This one is certainly difficult to one up my dear. Fantastic write! Feels, not desperate, maybe more confident in what will be will be, but hoping for a certain reality. kaleidoscope soul to be sure - colorful and talented. best, Nathaniel

colourful...

Hey Nat, Thank you (again)...I feel that I'm about to discard the autobiographical genre...people are gaining a far too accurate insight into the 'real' Ellie...That just wont do!...wish to retain a certain mystique. So I'm going to try looking at non-fictional characters for inspiration. Saw an amazing documentary about Hitler's women..Leni Rifenschtahl...was an amazing director of all of his monumental propaganda...Marlene Dietrich a Berliner but American convert, fascinated the Third Reich...they constantly wanted her to return to Germany...ooops! I'm waffling. Anyway, the point is...i'm going to try to branch out...probably take me another year to perfect the art!...in the meantime I'll type up some 'left-over' poems from last year. Regards, Ells x

Long time, Richard...

Hey Richard! It's been a while!...thank you...you got the tone I wanted to adopt, spot on! It's nice going out to dinner with someone you fancy...especially on a first date...being polite but secretly trying to contain boiling attraction...phew! Ells x

Thank you

Hey JC, Thank you...you're very generous...If you read my comment to Nat above, I'm going to try to stop writing new material about me, me, me!...lol...there's only so much I can mine about myself and as I said, want to retain an air of mystery!...hahahaha. Was fascinated to know you were a singer...I sing too!...in a community gospel choir...and in a friend's Big band....love it!...all those american standards and swing numbers...but the fashion of the forties appeals to me, so glam! Want to catch up at the weekend with more of your work...think it's excellent. Ells x

You have the talent..

Avoid the cliche. Or use it as irony . One lesson that will stand you in good stead. Cliches suck . They turn readers off and the scanning begins. In this world of overexposure, where we are competing with hundreds of mediocre , slapdash work, where the artificial and generic stand shoulder to shoulder to heave out the original - the lesson is be good and you will be read. Yes be the Where's Wally Poet amongst the saturated generic rubbish. Don't be lazy. And keep the personal, confessional, pull down your picture if you want anonymity and tell us about the real you otherwise give us nursery rhymes and count your twinkling stars. Kal
