Window

Black flags obscure the sun, signs play

the sky like the pages flipping through

your hand to reveal a pair of spectacles

and a fan,- flickering

'Africa', 'lighthouse'

A quiet sister leans your forehead to the

damp glass as three pedestrians smoke

and walk on white lies to crowded harbours

Four stars and neon flash

in rapid passing

Translucent shadow splits you in half, filling

our night with applause, and words that bind:

''We were born in this meadow, green and dark,

pushed out into bewilderment

and collapse.''

Fucking superb writing!

A strange mix of gritty Bukowski-esque reality and Burrough's hallucinogenity. You paint a picture, state a complex view and entertain with wordcraftsmanship. Nothing more can be asked of poetry. Cheers, Jess, “A poet’s work; to name the unnameable, to point at frauds, to take sides, start arguments, shape the world and stop it going to sleep” Salman Rushdie

Thanks Jess

You give me a lot here, but I'll take it with a bow and say that I'm sincerely grateful you dropped by to read, and for the compliment, of course. The background for this one came from a woman who was leaning her head to the window with a book in her hand. The image was serene enough, until I started to mess with it. Thanks again, Respectfully, Espen

Dear Espen

I sometimes wonder if I should stop commenting on your poetry and just read and nominate lol I get lost and have nothing intelligent to say when I am finished usually after reading three or more times this is brilliant as Jess said walking across those white lies to the harbour made me think of making an escape from something ... and so many more things but I will stop waffling now Love Jayne-Chloe

It's always a pleasure to see you. I'm pretty busy with things right now, but look forward to some quiet times in L.A the coming weeks. Will do some thorough reading and catch up on all that I've missed, so I'm sure we'll talk some poetry in the near future. Thanks for reading, See you around, Yours, Espen.

Doorman, every time you step

Doorman, every time you step through, you bring with you something that I cherish: a poem of remarkable distinction. Thank you. ~A Words must be used like stepping stones: lightly and with nimbleness, because if you step on them too heavily, you incur the danger of falling into the intellectual mire of logic and reason. - Balsekar

Lovely Espen

How did I miss this one of late, Too say to you this is great is an understatement, you write with such ease and the flow of the song is so mellow yet so strikingly at the same time, it just relaxed me to a slumber Thouroughly loved it and yes nomination no doubt for you this round.
