Black flags obscure the sun, signs play
the sky like the pages flipping through
your hand to reveal a pair of spectacles
and a fan,- flickering
'Africa', 'lighthouse'
A quiet sister leans your forehead to the
damp glass as three pedestrians smoke
and walk on white lies to crowded harbours
Four stars and neon flash
in rapid passing
Translucent shadow splits you in half, filling
our night with applause, and words that bind:
''We were born in this meadow, green and dark,
pushed out into bewilderment
and collapse.''
