I'M A WOMAN WHO LOVES TOO MUCH

I think, therefore I know
I'm not O.K.

I'm a woman who loves
too much-it's official,
my cousin gave me a book
with the title
'Women Who love Too Much'.

Sent it all the way from Korea,
so I must be ill.
The thumping in my chest
proves i'm not well.

Still,it's just the calling
of life isn't it?
I have a heart, it beats
too fast for the Beta Blockers
but it still beats.

Too quick.Slow down
Beta-blocking heart. Slow
down a life lived in the
fast lane.

Slow down the pace
or he'll vanish again-
like the errant runaway
if he feels trapped.

My achy-breaky Beta- Blocking
heart. Too fast. Too fast to
see your life fast-forward.

Away with him and your
too fast heart. Too fast to see
you & I together-

slow
down,

slow
down.

Oh, yes! I read the book,

Oh, yes! I read the book, threw it across the room, asked wtf? I think I'm cured now, I know nothing lasts long enough to know "long enough or too much", let alone love. Great poem, glad to see you back, Ellie. I do hope you post some spoken word would love to hear that delicious Brit heartbeat. ~A "A poem is never finished, only abandoned." ~ Paul Valery

Ha Ha..threw the book across the room myself!

Hi A, Thanks for the comments...yeah, I read the book and thought..."I'm not that srewed up!"...hahaha. Frankly, I'd rather be accused of loving too much than not at all any day! I do feel that as I'm an autobiographical poet I do expose my foibles too readily sometimes. There's something of the confessional about this site! Ells x

YOU ARE UNDOUBTEDLY

I perhaps did comment On this wonderful poem Alas I don’t see my script, Perhaps someone erased it. Twas one of its own kind Perhaps someone did mind, A non poet how dares that one Comment on you Like an aura the only one Whose words of love praise And freedom do amaze, All and everyone And as I stand In the witness box, As a poet I sure am no one. Real commentary

Hi Loved, Thanks for the response, but I'd really prefer you to write your commentary in prose, especially as it seems you cut & pasted the same comments to another poet!...c'mon I'm sure you have opinions, good , bad or indifferent...LOL Take care, Ells.

(Yes Ells I got the same one

(Yes Ells I got the same one too). It's a terrible pain loving too much, and I don't just mean a man / woman love. I've lost a few pets and people through years that I loved too much...Caused me much heartache, and still does. I feel this in your words. You describe and recognise the symptoms that most of us have to endure. Well done. PS I don't usually forget, but I forgot your stars, a few wee extra *********** Rosina xena465

I am on a beta blocker

I am on a beta blocker medication right now.... Yes, it feels terrible to ration the amount of love we naturally feel and would otherwise freely act upon!

..just a query, what’s a

..just a query, what's a "Beta Blocker" for? ;) ..i suppose women express their feelings more freely than men because we are not afraid to face our own emotions..most women I know love without limits, so I agree that women love too much..too much that they become selfless, which I also think that most men misunderstood.. :)

Apart from it being an excellent commentary on the condition...

This is a lesson to women everywhere who lose out on love due to exactly this condition. Where men have premature ejaculation to carry with them as a silent killer of relationships , some women have this syndrome of loving to hard, too deep and too exacting. This is confessional poetry that has a stern lesson for those of the monstrous regiment that feel its acceptable to love like a freight train loves a car on a crossing. The poem itself is not a masterpiece and its improvement could be tricky without a massive edit and rewrite , you have for me the ingredients there in this write but its clunky, formless, lacking beauty and over written. Now of course this is not meant to be harmful but constructive. Do you want your read poetry to be jagged and clunky , I don't ;I by far prefer to read beautiful language and if not language then structure and if not the two above, then brevity preferably as a haiku. Then I like sense something that doesn't contradict itself ( this doesn't ) or make scientific or emotional nonsense. You are a writer with experience , it tell in your work. I sense quite a lot of work behind you pushing you onward, you have bravery and the ability to rise above personal weakness. Neopoet was made for writers like you on the cusp of being good writers rather than afternoon jotters like so many of the closed minded and shrill contributors here on this site. Kal

I threw the book away!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, Well...semi-confessional...I'M NOT THAT NEEDY!!!!!!!!! OK..the style...clunky, yes...well it is...but that was sort of the effect I was after to tell you the truth (and I'm not saying that to cover up my lack of technique)...it's hard to articulate, but being the persona of a woman (on the edge)...thoughts careering and emotions soaring one minute and crashing the next...a beautiful easy flow would be linguistically taxing with the theme...don't you think? Men view this differently to women...de facto. And pray tell what have you gleened are my personal weaknesses?????...that's a grand statement, I'm expecting you to back it up! LOL Ells x
