Pashtun Blood

Blood of Pashtuns
Like water
Flows
In streams of peace...
To water
The crop of Terrorism!

The bride of peace
Sitting
On the bank of the blood stream,
Dips her finger in it
And with blood ink,
Writes their lament
On her white skirt--
Torn by those
Who claim
To arrange
Her wedding!

So much is left
To suffer....

My Dear Wafi

This sad poem is no less than brilliant. My favorite lines: The bride of peace Sitting On the bank of the blood stream, Dips her finger in it And with blood ink, Writes their lament On her white skirt– Torned by those Who claim To arrange Her wedding! Your message is loud and clear in graceful words. Just one suggestion: change "torned" to torn Always, Cat

I can recognise this sentiment well...

Yes the image is strong and the write deeply poignant. How many have been dipping their fingers in this stream these past years? Many more than we will ever know I fear. Kal

A strong deep write

Powerful subject Writes their lament On her white skirt– Torn by those Who claim To arrange Her wedding! The fact that she writes their lament and not her own is so very strong a point. It stopped me in my track and spun a whole different feel to the poem. Beautiful Wafi Seabhac

Dear Wafi,

this is, without a doubt, one of your best poems to date. Like some of the other commenters, I was particularly drawn to and moved by the second stanza. What can one do from this faraway place? I can only offer my thoughts and prayers. Yours, ~Nina
