Do not forsake love poetry,

Do not forsake love poetry,

Is it fear of what it may provoke

have you been consumed by the flames

could you begrudge the happiness for others

maybe you lost the meaning?

Bored with the results say some

But like the dawn of every morning

offering a new day to be a part of

like the food we partake in

the bare bones of this here world

love is part of it…

all

like each heart a poem can touch

We are here for love of the word

why would love poetry be a stretch?

Where would we be with out love

and since poetry is the words of life

does it not belong

have its place

value?

Love fly’s in the face of soured logic

Did your mum not care enough

maybe your dad wasn’t there

your best friend from youth

did they forget you

leave you behind

did your first crush laugh at you

could you even tell them?

For the sake of reproduction

what ever should we resort to

barter for services

a lottery?

Feel not the emotion

living through the glass darkly

Can you prefer to be all alone

the door locked

closed to the possibilities

isn’t it only words

Are they only words?

I try not to live jaded

be open for the good that can be

if allowed

even if only for others

Fear not what love holds

it is only the most tender

vulnerable

part of ourselves

Love poetry honors this

A short break from my ongoing series in ryhme

After thoughts,

I love love poetry. It does help I believe in love and its ideals. Thanks to my husband who rocks and makes it easy to be in love! And for those who think I don’t know the worst of love, how I could wish you were right. I have lived threw a lot, but my biggest lesson about love came from bringing my niece’s into my family. They know the worst love can offer, all the worst. The worst example you all could think of, probably worse. What they weren’t old enough to do or even understand they witnessed. But they are bundles of love… when not fighting and being ungrateful brats right along with my daughter. Precious bundles really. LOL.

You know most who know me in my day to day would say I am anything but sappy Seren. So funny. But thats why I love poetry, it creats everything that I wish I could show to people. I have three girls, I just can't avoid the subject. And I am lucky enough to know love. Lucky lucky me. And I will sighhhh with you, for that is just part of it all! Thanks for reading Dear Seren, xoxoxoxoxxo Julie D.D.

LOL, Julie, I take this poem as a personal challenge

and, is it my liking of the content that I think it is better, more yourself in the words, than your recent works? Or just that I love to engage with polemic? okokokok, love is grand beautiful fine and our only salvation. My objection is that it has all been written before. Geezer's works are a grand exception to the rule. And a very few others. Most teenagers write cliches and they make my teeth grind like chalk on blackboard. You have suggested I should be more in touch with "younger" [not age, experience] poets. I feel I have a responsibility to them to point out where thy are being vapid, sentimental and cliched. Don't take my objections to love poetry as objections to love. This old anarcho-syndicalist techno-shaman atheist is still a romantic at heart and open to love, more now than ever before. Cheers, Jess, reprehensibly irrepressible

Your an old fuddy duddy Elf,

Your an old fuddy duddy Elf, And if Gee can do it, it is possible then. HA HA. I glad you thought it was more natural. If felt good and amusing, so distracting while I wrote it. Please never just like the love poetry of the weak persuasion, but stop denying it has it's place. Just like your soured logic. Lots of love. And it wasn't a challenge, but you could say you were an inspiration because of your recent and not so recent verbaliztions of dislike for such an age old tradition by most all poets, the love poem. Thanks for reading Jess, and rounding out the opinion. Much appreaciated. Julie D.D.

It can be, and I am sure

It can be, and I am sure alot just is. But when you feel it, usualy mature love. Then it can be transulated to poem. I hope to get better. And you are right, if well written than there is nothing better. Even in ryhme! My favorite love poem of my own. Seeded visions. Love that one, true to. heheheehe Thanks Judy, I will try to stop by on yours a little later. You are so wonderfully prolific I have to work to keep up with your great stories. Julie D.D.

abandoned

Dear D., I really "love" this piece. No pun. I have pretty much abandoned love poetry, but I think I might pick it up again. P.

Thanks Pamela, I am glad you liked it, and I hope you do. At least once. Everyone should do what make them a little less comfortable at least once. Regularly. Julie D.D.
