Beyond A Smile

a smile is sadly
something we seem
to have taken for granted

we often dread encounters
when  we pass people that we know
who can only offer us half hearted smiles

and yet  to a perfect stranger
who is feeling all alone
your smile can be
their shining beacon of hope

This was a nice poem.

This was a nice poem. 'take' should be 'taken'. It seems like you have an extra space after 'when' in line 5 and after 'yet' in line 7. The message is great. Tim

Lenny, what is wrong with you?

If this was ironic the point was missed. You normally pack more punch. You can tell by the previous comments. Cheers, Jess, reprehensibly irrepressible

Magics02 - glad you enjoyed

Magics02 - glad you enjoyed my piece, but beware not all of my work shares this nice edge! Tim - again, thanks for the comments. I've edited the missing "n"! Jess - yes this is one of my more gentle strolls, makes a nice change though! Plus it has a few fans! Maybe my next one will put you on the floor then maybe you will be happy!!! Blessings to you all, Lenny

Softly smile please

You speak of smiles, It’s the only thing We can share for free. Upon a smile We can fly a million miles away Even strangers feel the same way Ah! Two first time lovers Can smile their lives away Smile and the world smiles with you and as you weep, Sadly you weep alone There is none to wipe of your tear Or smile neither With nor for you So smile, I beseech thee For all times to allure For ever smiles are free That’s one thing for sure. hey, Lenny

Smiles are attractive, they attract other smiles in a rather gray world. As Jess, I was kind of taken aback by this gentle side of you. Regards, Mark FlexAbilities

I Know!!!

I'm not known for my gentle poetry! This reminds me of a time when I used to perform at poetry nights, and on this occasion I was introduced as "The Prince Of Darkness", however my set was kind of light and fluffy!!! The poor man! I believe he had a nervous breakdown some months later!!! Cheers, Lenny And thanks to you too Jane-Chloe, and I agree with what you say! I am lucky to be married to Nikki, who is a wonderful artist, as we both enjoy laughter and smiles and being happy!!! Cheers, Lenny be rebellious!
