Cheating Death (Inspired by the new novel I'm writing)

He’s the man who’s lived forever
The man who never died
No-one knows the price he’s paid
Or the many tears he’s cried

Living oh so many lifetimes
The mind can’t comprehend
If he still remains sane
Living life without an end

Can you blame his surliness
On a lifetimes filled with pain
How would you cope with loneliness
In a world of unending rain

Bow your head and shed a tear
For the man who cheated death
He has died a million times
But he still draws his breath

He’s the man who’s lived forever
Though he wishes he could die
In the silence of the lonely night
If you listen you can hear him cry

Dear Rett

This poem reminded me of the intro song for a t.v. program of long ago titled: "Paladin" do you remember it? I found this piece to be highly enjoyable. It is so nice to see you again. I hope all is well with you? Always, Cat

Richard

Yes sir, I am on chapter 23 of The Man Who Couldn't Die. It is slow going because I have to do so much research on the periods. Right now I am researching Southern Pacific train line from San Francisco to New Orleans in 1830. I have to get landmarks, terrain, dress, countryside, train cars etc... right for the period or I'll look like a fool. *L* I hope I am finished with it by mid-summer, but not holding my breath. May get an agent for this one and see if I can get another more main stream publisher. How do you like my cover for Dangerous Fare? (was Taxi Driver, but had to rename it) Respectfully, Rett: “Anyone who sacrifices liberty for security deserves neither.” Benjamin Franklin

Hey Rett

Shades of Lazarus Long meets Cain! Go for it, my friend, it'll make an intriguing novel. Respectfully Jim "Laws and rules don't kill freedom: narrow-minded intolerance does" : Race

Paw it’s great. I had

Paw it's great. I had issue with one unsure line, your never unsure whats up with that? "if he still remains sane" maybe just as a thought should be along the lines of "missing the beat of lifes rhyme" and I think "how you cope with loneliness" should be "coping with loneliness" in my humble opinion. Now you know I know the truth here, but the unsurity translated. So until everyone has read the novel seems a touch weak. In my opinion. I found no fault in your flow anywhere else and I loved it. Reminds me I have lots of reading to do. And I am now excited for it, that should help. busy busy busy. But I am so glad that you, Mr Busy himself, found time and felt well enough to post. I was missing your ryhmes something fierce. Love ya bunchs, xoxoxoxo Julie D.D.
