The Gospel Affect
My heart is pounding violently
against my chest
as I take each step
really fast...
running away from myself.
I fall to the ground
the asphalt digs deep
and my hands bleed
turning my head...
looking back, I am still there.
Embraced by fear
the hairs on my neck rise
as I gaze into myself
I can see the devil in those eyes...
unable to break free.
So once and for all
I answered the call of grace
praying for humility
then everything changed...
and I love the new me.
against my chest
as I take each step
really fast...
running away from myself.
I fall to the ground
the asphalt digs deep
and my hands bleed
turning my head...
looking back, I am still there.
Embraced by fear
the hairs on my neck rise
as I gaze into myself
I can see the devil in those eyes...
unable to break free.
So once and for all
I answered the call of grace
praying for humility
then everything changed...
and I love the new me.
