Consumption

blunt-edged butter knives
scrape across brittle landscapes
on freshly overtoasted slices of multigrain loaves

each lumpy mound of spreadable dairy
refuses to swathe evenly, amicably

momentary paralysis plagues
this expedition many times over
without consolation or apology

Cryptic indeed

Hey now, cool poem. I would have thought it was about breakfast except for the title. I like that. Robert Frostish. And another delight, I realized I was experiencing the meaning as I consumed your lines. Cryptic indeed! And very well done.
