Tsunami

The grizzling sea had a premonition
She wore a livery of grief
The waves moiled and coiled in succession,
There was pan chewing of cough
that spat red.
Water red,saliva red,

Sea the munificence of the sea.
Slowly evaporated into dull cruelty, see
How ruthless thou art!
Rills overflowed rivers attacked the shores,
Run amuck, oh men, water is berserk
Born tsunami, unborn mercy,
Evagation of waves.
Trees swaggered, Houses shook
Balance everywhere missed.
Devour, devour.  Monster you are.
The sea is a red fire.  Thunder bellowed,
Tongue dripping blood.
Life drained in the flood,
Tsunami is life, chant again, tsunami.

Mad Nature had a macabre dance.
Run run to infinity. Away, away.
Dud, dud...dud.
Stand agape for dripping water?
No my friend.  Be no snugging child,
Away...away...

Mr. U.K.Atiyodi, you are normally so controlled

and self-possessed in your poetry. Here I feel your rage against the senselessness of destruction and passion of grief running wild. And I applaude it! A superb write. A few things I want to comment on specifically. There was pan chewing of cough I don't understand this line. Water red, saliva red, [space missing, pedantic I know, but I'm sure you appreciate attention to detail] Evagation of waves. [great line!] Tsunami is life, chant again, tsunami. [brave, superb line!] No my friend. Be no snugging child, [snuggling?] This is my favourite of all your works I have read. Cheers, Jess, reprehensibly irrepressible

It is subject to correction. Thank you for reading the poem. Perhaps 'Pan' is Indian. Chewing betels, arecnut, lime etc. mouth becomes filled with saliva, red of course.
