Cruelest Game

 Toiling inner beings

With endless opportunities

 Lips laced with rapture

 Leave victims secluded

Eyes that bore witness

To the viscous departure

Cry no more, this night

Let time do its part

In the cruelest game

Known to man

No words seem soothing

To an aching soul

Only memories that fade

Into the unending night

Emptiness seems overbearing

As it smothers unfortunate souls

Leaving them gasping for air

Startled by the silent hours

That become days and years

 Sunsets replaced by tears

Seeking paradise

 In the saga

 That has no end

Strong work!

Your words resonate beyond their meaning, hauntings of pain. Wondering about the line To the viscous departure viscous is perfect, drawn out like a slomo nightmare, hope you didn't mean vicious. Cheers, Jess, reprehensibly irrepressible
