The spoon
In a drawer covered with dust
Lay a spoon rusted and warped
Seeping with memories
Lay a spoon rusted and warped
Seeping with memories
Gold twisted at the top
Forming a crest
Designed for a baby
Take a touch, let it fill you up
Indents of babies teeth
Warmth to the soul
Memoirs of a happy couple
Essence of love, and hope
The burnt floor creaks
Voices surrounding
Wind closing the door
Speaking to you
This rusted spoon will not be taken
This is our treasure even in death
This is our spirit, our soul
This spoon given
When fruit was in womb
Won’t be removed
The spoon in the drawer eternal
Happy and sad memories it holds.
Forever protected by souls.
