The Storm

A storm is coming
I sense it with every fiber of my being
The air feels electrified, static
The wind picks up, skies darken, silence deepens
Lightening slashes the sky
Thunder reverberates across the heavens
The earth beneath me quakes

Suddenly it is unleashed upon me in all it's fury
Just moments ago the sun was bright
I knew no fear or uncertainty
Now the wind sucks the breath from  me
Without end it rages, battering on every side
Bruised, bleeding, nearly broken
I seek shelter, yet no safety is found

As suddenly as it began it is over
The skies are blue, the sun bright
Dark clouds disappearing on the horizon
Are the only reminder of the chaos
That was once my life
It is with surreal clarity that I now realize the truth
Somehow I am stronger because of the storm
