GROUNDS IN MY COFFEE


 

I woke up this morning and much to my surprise
There were grounds in my coffee, can't figure why
I set the coffee pot rather late last night
For I always make the coffee just right

Somehow those grinds got in my teeth
Swirling around and making me seethe
“Ah-ha says the coffee pot, you spilled the beans”
For now the grounds are mixed in between

I pour the coffee out in the sink
And here is where I begin to think
A little bit of this, a little bit of that
Made it right this time, now I'll tip my hat..

No more grinds in my coffee to be found
Sweet hazelnut cream swirling all around
Great tasting coffee now I can drink
Got time to write, got time to think

My teeth are white and no longer seethe
For the grounds I buried underneath my seat
The coffee is great, but wait something's amiss
My cookie jar is empty and now I'm in a tift!

I buy Hazelnut coffee and

I buy Hazelnut coffee and mix it into Columbian and whatever I have on hand. YUM! Think I'll make some coffee & have some cherry strudel (I just came home from shopping). Wish you girls were here, and we could talk about____________. I wonder what would we talk about? hahahahaha! Black Coffee!

Hazelnut? Really? I never put anything in my coffee (except an occassional shot of brandy). Enjoyed your write -- I react the same way to grounds in my coffee but I've never had my coffee pot sass me back! LOL

Sometimes the coffee pot gets mad

Got to make some now as I woke up late and its time and I heard the cookie delivery is coming today.. Yippee arent I just like the child on Christmas Morning awaiting the presents under the tree. You see you can be 53 and still have the fun of a child in your heart and always act that way when the children come here to see Aunt Mona. They never want to leave and oh I only have the best, their favorite cookies on hand. Actually I make them the oreo milkshake with doublestuff oreos in it. My sons favorite too!! I think my next poem will be about cookies, what do you think? LOL thanks for visit young man!! Love to you and family and just where do they sell those tim tam blam blam cookies at in the states? Birch Run here I come

I remember those childhood days when mom and dad took us to the old Pepperidge Farm in Connecticut, how I loved that smell everytime we went there, Wow I can smell it now,,,,best cookies and bread ever!! Still going strong too after so many years, thanks for bringing this memory so close to my heart back to the surface. My brother just called and he is at market today and he told me he is bringing me cookies, wow being sick and all that should make me better, what do you guys and gals think? lol I am having fun with my cookies and coffee theme. Always good to have that comfort food around the house and especially when the company comes, My Grandmother, may she rest in peace always had the Italain homeade cookies on the table with the coffee cake and coffee. I guess I carried on her traditional way.. cookie tray was always empty when it was time to go home and I can still smell my Dad's homeade annisette's baking in the oven. Sweet smells, sweet sweet memories always close in heart. Forever they shall stay. Thanks for the reading of this here coffee poem to all of you. Love Ms Mona x0x0x0x0

Adorable!

That was a wonderful poem, a joy to resd and a lol surprise ending. Hope you were able to get some cookies! For me it's the chocolate I need to have nearby at all times, unfortuantely perpetuating the stereotype of all woman as loving chocolate. Light verse about maybe my favorite substance ever--

Overall, this poem is very entertaining and flows smoothly. However, in your first and last stanzas you have lines of 11, 12 and 13 (yikes!) syllables, which in my experience are very hard to make flow well, esp. when going for a comic effect. See what you think about trying to shorten them to about 10. I present some ideas as suggestions: I rose this morning and to my surprise found grounds in my coffee, can’t figure why! While I set the pot rather late last night, I always, always make coffee just right --two "always" are better than one (but only in comic verse) :) My teeth are white; I no longer seethe--Can teethe seethe? I don't think so, which is why I offered an alternative wording. And I buried the grounds beneath my seat The coffee’s great but wait, something’s amiss My cookie jar’s empty and now I’m tiffed! Enjoyable. I hate grounds in my coffe.
