Lavender

Lavender she wore that day
among the blossoms
lithe limbs below the dress
caressing petals

The flowers swayed with her
as she danced
moved more by her presence
than the subtle breeze

My eyes leaked love
seeing such fragile beauty
and poetry was born
as the morning breathed

Lavender is what I see
when dreams of her return
haunting me like tender spirits
in purple shades of night

Silken kisses tease my lips
again I feel her
touching me curiously
with Elfin hands

My ears ring once more
with echos of girlish glee
and I ache in silence
for want of her

Lavender she wore
lavender I see
the color of a love
that soothed the soul of me

>>>APPLAUSE< ..vivid

>>>APPLAUSE<<< ..vivid imagery, i could feel such intense passion...that if I was the lady in the poem I would be so flattered..its that feeling of a deeper love undeniably overflowing...like a flower, delicate with each blossom & fragile even to the human touch.. actually, while reading your poem I was like floating, love that feeling.. :)

Many thanks!

This is a seldom-used form for me, as I normally prefer to use rhyme and meter, but it seemed to go together well and I guess it works!

Isn’t love a beautiful

Isn't love a beautiful thing when freely expressed? Shades of lavender, shades of undress. ~A "If parents really would love their children there would no longer be any war." J. Krishnamurti

Bloody fucking hell!

I have always respected you as a poet but this is the first time you have made me jealous of your talent. Co-incidentally just today I witnessed a scene of sweet love that I wanted to write about but felt inhibited of doing so. You inspire me, sir. Thank you. Cheers, Jess, reprehensibly irrepressible

Thank you, Jess!

Coming from you, that means more than you know! We may disagree on many things in life, but I don't think Poetry is one of them! I will try to continue to make you jealous! LOL!!!

Super!

You really painted the picture here Lonnie! And I mean PAINTED! The part: 'The flowers swayed with her as she danced moved more by her presence than the subtle breeze' is a masterpiece by itself! Cheers, John.

I'm not really used to using freeform poetry, but this one seemed to call for it, so I took a chance! Thanks for reading and your kind comments!

You are a true artist from the heart. My favorite lines are: Lavender is what I see when dreams of her return haunting me like tender spirits in purple shades of night Love the imagery you paint with such ease. Always, Cat

lovely

Nice rhyming in the last two stanzas, and a good connection back to the beginning, weaving it all neatly together. Evoked images of days of love, days of beauty gone by...thank you for this sensual poem, a good way to begin my day. Yes, without love we are indeed lost! And not poets! Jhena Mariposa

You write some deep poetry.

Lon, the poetry you write is so deep and compelling and just found out that you authored a paper back book, you are the same person I used to know back in the days of Citizen Band radio, I knew you as the one the only PaPa Goose. Keep up the poetry and look forward to reading more of your poems. Brett.
