Birth Mother

"Birth Mother"

Deep in the Earth's fertile womb

Pyrogenous zones ignited

In passionate creativity

Volcanic entity forming

Churning roiling burning

This very first life

Massive scalding magma

Issuing from its mother's body

Erupts the molten fury of birth

This lava, liquid incandescent rock!

Cat

As Judyann has already stated. The use of words in this poem is such that not only can you feel the strength , but hear the violence. Excellent writing. I have only one complaint here and that is you ended it way to soon Chrys

Hi Ziggy

The weather here is warm and the days are sunny. Most of the snow has melted and what is left should be gone by Monday. I am hoping that this is really spring and we won't get a March blizzard which we are famous for. We got a lot of snow this winter, even for the mid west. Always, Cat

The fire within parallels

The fire within parallels the fire without. Eruptions happen. ;-) I can't even say this is a cool poem. ~A "If parents really would love their children there would no longer be any war." J. Krishnamurti

As much as a volcano

As much as a volcano erupting being a disastrous event, I once saw a beautiful painting of an eruption, and it was beautiful in colour and detail. Brilliant. Rosina xena465

Dear Rosina

I would have loved to see that painting. Paintings have often been the stimulus for great poetry. Always, Cat

I think one of the most

I think one of the most touching things I have ever seen is two bodies forever immortalized--caught in the act of an embrace--unearthed in Vesuvius. To be seen and remembered thousands of years later by a young girl. ~A "If parents really would love their children there would no longer be any war." J. Krishnamurti

Dear Cat,

a very powerful poem, and a tad intimidating to imagine all these bowel movements (or birth pains) of our Mother Earth. This line stood out for me: Churning roiling burning as a very well crafted example for the use of onomatopoeia. Awesome. Yours, ~Nina
