Dawn's quest, Part 3

Dawn’s quest, part 3

Seliq wa till laid on a hill

intent on hunting his game

possessed with concentrated zeal

nothing felt quit the same

Grandfather had dreamed a gift

not of hide or of bone beads

he would have to be swift

if he had a chance to succeed

Crouched above the baited shore

breathing in shallow breaths

Mattering not that his legs were sore

Resisting the urge to stretch

In came a swooping hawk

landing on half a salmon

this is what he had sought

an engagement gift with talons

He would present her a bird

for considering to be his wife

and upon her anticipated word

she’d agree to complete his life

Netting a hawk is never easy

or usually done in one day

but the results are pleasing

So worth it, in more than one way

His chap’s felt full of sweat

his muscles screamed in agony

he resisted the urge to jump just yet

patience is rewarded handsomely

It was now time to spring his trap

in a simple but quick action

he cut a tight braided strap

before the bird could have a reaction

A sapling snapped back in a flash

pulling from the water a net

the bird jumped back with a splash

it appears they were to both get wet

He launched from his position

quick strides took him to the shore

he had accomplished his mission

he wouldn’t have to wait much more

Her name rolled in his mind

A chant almost heard pure

she is all he ever wanted to find

emotions she could deeply stir

Lay lo la may not remember him

but he sure remembered her

She’d been climbing a cedar limb

whilst he traded with her father

having dimples a mile wide

with a smile of liquid sun

brown eyes he might confide

and wide hips to carry his sons

And with a little good medicine

respect for his maker and tribe

she might just choose him

and consider being his bride

Is this about the hawk and the Indian girl

Hello DD I have to admit I got a little lost in there for a minute, I don't know what threw me off but it is good and I believe needs some tweaking as I was into the hawk and the net and then came along her. Now I just went to reread it all and it does make sense I think I need to reread the whole series together as one. Keep it going gal. love magics02 Learn to live, learn to forgive. Life is too short.

Well its not about already

Well its not about already written story that I know of, but native themes are popular Magic. And when I have most it written out, I will go back for editing any rough areas. I am doing small stuff but trying to follow the muse with the story when it hits me. And editing will best bedone when the whole story has unfolded. Still need all the spelling and grammer help I can get of coarse. I will use my comments to edit and help. Thanks for reading magic, Julie D.D.
