Blind Date

Blind dateThe once roaring fire was now dying
Red embers left, marking its death
Whispering smoke, a few sparks flying
As the fire gave out its last breath

How long I’d watched seemed forever
An eon since I saw her go
I’d dreamt of us being together
But still, she walked out of my door

I look at the wine glass, now broken
Scattered diamonds in the night
And I remember the words I'd spoken
And I knew I was not in the right

My mind drifted back to around seven
At the restaurant,  I waited for her
She walked in, and  I was in heaven
For the lord had answered my prayer

She told me her name was Irene
I said I’m Paul, and kissed her hand
I like she said what I'm seeing
Which made me, one happy man

As we ate we stared at each other
with passion so full of desire
She told me of her sister and brother
I Said  at home I've a roaring fire

I asked, if she'd come home with me
She said yes, for one nightcap
After that well we’ll just have to see
Which made me one happy chap

We Snuggled up close, on the sofa
A glass of red wine, in our hands
I leaned across and I kissed her
My butterflies doing handstands

She could tell how much I was keen
As I Whispered words in her ear
I said,  I’m falling for you Eileen
That’s when she pushed me well clear

What are you doing, She shouted
What in the hell is your game
l'll not give it to you, She pouted
You can't even remember my name

I can I said, and I do
As sure as mine is Paul
Marlene I said is you
And that’s when the glass hit the wall

So here I am,  just sitting
Because I made one stupid gaffe
And my sides, well my sides are splitting
Because all you can do is laugh

And I know that I should be sorry
Because this really isn't funny
But next time I wont have to worry
Because I'm just gonna call her hunny

Huggles of Buggles

A time to laugh again and this one did it just for me the wording great, I caught the gals name wrong and then as I continued the poem I got the message loud and clear and honey yes is better then Irene, Eilleen and Marlene. This is a good one, and look forward to your writes. magics02 Learn to live, learn to forgive. Life is too short.
