barbers and bartenders

barbers and
   bartenders
    talk
to you
  not
             at you
let you
let it
        on
              out

sometimes
    i sob
         and mewl
not metaphoric
or poetic
    i cry
          like a
    bitch

sometimes-
                 for
                          the drink
                          the truly
                          heartfelt moments
                          the truly
                          horrible news
sometimes
                          sigh
sometimes
    i just
          cry
    like a
    little
bitch

   rickety
     and frail
I stand
               tall
and broad-
     shouldered

so let
  it
      out
but
remember
                      to tip

Sad and funny at the same

Sad and funny at the same time, love the last line. I'm curious on the style. Why you chose this, it works especially on subsequent readings. Wry commentary, I like it. raskin

our Kerouac, of course

i wrote this about two months ago, and then got back into my Kerouac. he inspired me to make this poem more personal thru the spacing in-between. the silent spaces reveal (to the readers interp) a deeper meaning, hopefully. i can't imagine this one without the spacing now that it's been done.

It’s times like these, I

It's times like these, I wish I were born a man. So much more honesty... However, I know my inner male intimately. Thank God. And thank you for this poem, fool. ~A "If parents really would love their children there would no longer be any war." J. Krishnamurti
