Tribal dawn, part one

Up the Sound on a sunny daywas a tribe of native folkon a river out of the wayin the Northwest, its remote
Down the Stoluck-wa-mish valleyfollowing its crooked riveryou can hear a calling rallyshouting young the trigger
Greeting hands and smileswelcome you to a potlucksome come from many milesa celebration is all it took
Tan faces filled with laughterstrong arms opened widenew beginnings forever afterbig sense of community pride
The elders stand to the backmore reserved than the restpossessing what young still lackall dressed in their fancy best
hands out to the newest bridepretty as the morning suncome up the river with the tideno doubt she would be the one
Coming to offer her medical skillbut they all know why she cameit was known over land and hillshe was a princess with a name
Lay-lo-la was of old native bloodcome to meet the young Chiefand if they felt there could be lovewould marry, as was their belief
The Stoluck-wa-mish people beamedexcited for what was to comethis was the tribes biggest dreamplanned for a long time by some
With her came a name and graceher medicinal skills well knownso gladly they all make her spacehoping she might feel at home
There will be much for all to doin the days that are to followa bit of match making for twoa bright future dawns tomorrow

I am honored by your review.

I am honored by your review. Yes, it may be epic Kal. I have been working towards this a while. I think it will be more than 5 but less than 50 pgs, lol. As for bound to be a tragedy. I am not sure. But if I stick to close to local tradition, and I am going to try. They never had an agrument that went past teasing. Very peace filled peoples in this region. But for drama you never know! So glad you took the time, much appreaciated! Julie D.D.

Thanks Rosina, I am so

Thanks Rosina, I am so happy. I will admit though. Stokluwamish, is the orginal name of the regions tribe barely recognized in the first local treaty, but over the years has spilt in to many. Many. Many. Tribes. While the stillaguamish, the most direct decendents and claimers of the name practicaly dissappeared as a people being absorbed in to surrounding areas and communitys. And unfourtunetly why I said names may change. I have been searching for an authentic name, hours and hours so far. And have yet to find any lucshootseed salish, southern, names. Which is the laungue that the tribe laungue is called and used by many local tribes. But not all. Only about 300 people currently speak it. And apparently none of them have thought to write down any good names for me. I did find the name of chied Sealth, better known as Seattle, Mother. But that is so well know I should not use it. Sorry, the research involved and not even reflected will need pages of ryhming to work through. I just love this poetic torture! And you Rosina! Julie D.D.
