Tam Lin’s restless cousin
You were powering forth like a hot North wind
Heading for your tragedy
Gliding free
Somehow pulling me
On the majesty
of your history
One pearl dripping quietly
Back in the cave of your soul
Birthed from the ache for the union
Before you left that place to your shadow’s troll
Ah, but your delicate hands don’t change
And vibrato gentle voice
Your velvet throated whisper
That once stole away my choice
Still in the wake of your roving gaze
Mysteries offer their keys
Virgins dream of wading your stream
And do their best to please
You drank me like ambrosia
and I licked your honey skin
I thought I drew your heart to mine
But I was never quite within
I feel your words like heavy rain
In a tropical storm at noon
Soaking deep, right through my skin
I’m an ocean again too soon
I am swept back to a summer evening
Walking on the sun
As it set below horizons
Drowning everyone
Not you though
You are Raynardine, Rhianon or Ruadan
Gone before the deluge hits
Always in a shape that fits
Leaving crumbs and golden tempting bits
For hearts as pure as moonlight
Nothing tawdry or banal
could leave a smear upon your shine
You have silver sheen without armour
And you weave it through every line
Heading for your tragedy
Gliding free
Somehow pulling me
On the majesty
of your history
One pearl dripping quietly
Back in the cave of your soul
Birthed from the ache for the union
Before you left that place to your shadow’s troll
Ah, but your delicate hands don’t change
And vibrato gentle voice

That once stole away my choice
