anchors

I once had two anchors unique

that held me to this world.

Bound by cords of love and pain

and ties of eternal strength,

that never slacked,

that never broke,

no matter what the length.

One day one anchor “weighed away”.

It didn’t say goodbye.

My ship it rocked and rolled in fear

the mooring urgently missed.

Where was it now?  Where was my son?

And - did he still exist?

But my anchor did not let me loose.

He tugged gently at my grief.

He called to me in a small soft voice

until I realised the lie.

He reached for me from the other side

and taught we do not die.

Now I’m tethered to two worlds.

Anchors moored both ways.

With knowledge when we leave there’s no

such thing as separation, just

Development to

Existence in

Another

Different dimension

About This Poem

About the Author

Region, Country: Western Australia, AUS

Favorite Poets: Favourite poets? So many, so varied. I like particular songs, not necessarily the singer... and the same goes for poetry. I can honestly say though, that Alfred Noyes' The Highwayman was what inspired my love of poetry - my mother began reading it to me when I was still a baby, and it became my favourite bedtime story

Judy,

Wow! Brilliant piece and as heavy as your anchors dear. My heart goes out to you for that feeling and my admiration to you for your ability to create something beautiful from it. All the best, Nathaniel

A foot in two worlds spanning wisdom and courage

Ann of Norway A foot in two worlds spanning wisdom and courage in the face of adversity and desperation, you have both and all in this poem, we feel the tug the one way, the other way and yet you realise you have to stay it out and be where you are in this life, until you join your son in yet another life. You know, I don't, and yet you imply the tow of the bereaved with eloquence Judyanne, and the neat end. Love from Ana-Nya

Your anchor of strength

How I love your writing how poigant the words and the lovely sentiments. This one is great Judge Judy lol I only noticed the word realised should it not be realized? If not then leave it as you left the ink on it just the way it is. love Magics02 xx0x0xoxoxox "Determination Brings Success"

Thank you so much Magics for your comments that are always so supportive. I have trouble deciding whether to use English/Australian spelling or American. In that case I'm no Judge Judy. love and hugs Judy

Such a Beautiful, sad, pen

Venus Such a Beautiful, sad, pen, (((((((Judy))))))Yet a simple truth is told, nothing ever dies, it only changes from one form of energy to another. The "Other Side" is very real and a place we will all be when we cross the Rainbow Bridge. Spirit communication is a wonderful, isn't it? **Smiles** Love and BIG Hug, Venus xxxx

Venus your comment is so

Venus your comment is so greatly appreciated. It is hard to describe/explain to someone who hasn't felt/seen spirit how you know it is the real thing - reason aside, you 'just know' what you're experiencing is true. The emotion that wells up is too beautiful to not belong to 'home'. Thanks again, lol Judy
