RISE AND SHINE

stillness walks
deep and cool upon
the many broad rivers
of time on the run

like snakes of light they yawn
squirming in dark silence
weakening the theta need to mourn

as exhaustion screams release
of its long tight grip on night
time wavers

it undulates the darkness
relaxing and expanding
contracting powerful black hands
until suddenly they slacken into bright
rhythms of new dawn

then slow beneath
dreams of birthing morning blood
a grumbling flood of day becomes
the sun of light
reborn
