Sneak Attack

Tanned grass waving to me

Stalked by camoflaged winter

Across a field of white

Fleecy clouds hid the shadow

I did not see your approach

While dancing with the grasshopper

A calvary charge on the horizon

I was blinded by the sun

Frozen by the fearsome, chill of winter

Ohhh... my kingdom for a warm Spring day

Warm my bones, dear Sun

Give me your blessing

Release the hostage of my soul

More frantic now

The bare branches wave

As if to say, please help us

Hypnotized, I watch their struggles

I roll the window down

Don't surrender, I shout into the wind

I doubt they heard me

The crows in the barn silent

Not daring like the sparrows

Suicidal pilots, they eat the wind blown seed

Hark! Was that a whisper of warmth?

Shhhhh...says the Ides of March

I'll be back with a troop of nice days

Hold out... I'm coming

Wasn't trying...

to be romantic, in any way. Just a rant against the ravages of winter. I wonder what you mean by could use beefing up? ~ Gee

I, too, am getting tired of

I, too, am getting tired of winter, though I dare say, I could never say it quite as eloquently as you have done here. Beautiful images that you have painted with your words. Sue

Yes, ELOQUENT!!!!!!! This is

Yes, ELOQUENT!!!!!!! This is my latest winter poem so you tell me who's eloquent. Winters Passion I'm out of breath.. chest pounding my nipples, aching and erect I feel this tingle in my toes my fingers feel elusive I'm hot, I'm cold I can feel my blood flow I hate this, I love this in my mind, I wonder.... Would these god damn birds ever shovel this much snow to feed me?

OK, maybe...

Your's isn't eloquent, but, it is damn funny! I love the way you turned this from a heart pounding, sexy poem into a funny question. I wonder too! I don't give them much consideration, I just throw the bread or whatever, out on the top of whatever I can manage to clear off without too much trouble. After all, they don't have to walk in this crap. Great work, ~ Geezer.

winter is winter

I like your take on winter better then mine im only writing down a small portion of the scene etc I like your detailing and comments and the line "they eat the wind blown seed" for some reason stands out for me something about the way you lay down your words I like it very much Geezer

You can take my winter too...

I was inspired by the scene, but had lost the feel. When I read your poem, I was was brought back to it with a vivid vision. You have a way of giving me the scene all over again. I was fascinated with the sparrows performing aerial manuvoers like Kamikasi pilots, being blown by the wind, and using all their skills to home in on little piles of seed that had come together in the lee of some hedges. Twisting, flying upside-down, and performing like crazed dancers dodging bullets of snow dislodged from the trees. Thanks, coming from a wordsmith such as yourself, I feel it high praise. ~ Gee

one to two feet

on its way now in fact we're really in it or the beginning ::sigh:: A well done way to put it Gee. I seemed to falter on rhythm in a few places but my eyes are only just openning today. ..hid shadows maybe? be back.. Take care, Mark "I do not walk the earth and eat out of dumpsters, I'm not a bum, I'm beat."

Yeah,

I went out in it a little this morning. I need a refill on one of my meds, and drove over to the clinic, but there was a sign on the door saying that they wouldn't open until 10am. So, back home and answer some e-mail until time to go back again. I am thinking about adding an [ess] to the end of shadow, would that do it for you? Please point out anything you see, when you do get your eyes all the way open. ~ Gee

Sigh, right back to you...

I almost forgot how fickle women are. First they complain about how hot it is, then they complain about how little they are looking forward to winter and the cool weather. My wife has complained all winter about how cold it has been, and I know that as soon as it gets to be around 75 dgs. she is gonna be saying that it is time to get the air-conditioners up from the cellar, and back in the windows, Sigh... Hope you are getting the rest you need. Love ya and higgest bugs, Gee. P.S. Thanks for the compliments, I need a little ego boost now and then.

Dear Gee

Not disappointed. You have had your fair share of the winter chill and your poetry has expressed that well. Great. Love Lyz. XX

Thanks...

Glad that you were not disappointed. I know that my return to Spring and Summer is the return to you of winter, so i kinda feel bad about that, but I will save some of them in poetry to send to you. ~ Gee

Doin' A Jig...

A jig seems appropriate to announce the coming of Spring. I see signs all over, even though Winter is not officially over yet. I saw some geese yesterday, they were flying low, and honking loudly, as if to announce especially to me, the change of the season. I haven't seen any robins yet, but i am sure that they will be here soon. Thanks again, for your ncomments, ~ Gee
