Reaper's Dance

Reaper's Dance

Forever old is the story
Grim is the Reaper who snatches the soul
Of his unsuspecting quarry,
Who is unprepared for death's sudden role.

He who flirts with death and finds it,
Oft protests the Reaper's intense embrace.
By Grim's whip, he has been hit.
Taking his shot, consequences must face.

But gently does Grim take the hand
Of the ready spirits with nothing to fear.
On the stage is his ghostly band
To welcome them to the new frontier.

I like the way your mind

I like the way your mind works, there are consequences to our actions sometime we do foolish things that endanger our life but then we "protest the reapers intense embrace." It takes a strong belief in life after death to face death head on with "nothing to fear." A thought provoking poem, with a good beat, professonally done.

Well done Cat!

Ah the Grim Reaper, always welcome when a soul is ready. I really enjoyed this one. Respectfully, Rett: “Anyone who sacrifices liberty for security deserves neither.” Benjamin Franklin

Cat

A simple and poignant write about life and death but I love the angle you have taken...we do not prepare enough for death in the Western world and it seems to come as a supprise rather than the certainty it is , I was delighted at the possibility of a ghostly band playing me into the new frontier. Best Wishes and I'll try and be better about my visits and not miss these great writes. Seabhac

(and)

it seems that most of today's youth hardly ever think about death and are not in touch with their own mortality. Thank you for your kind words. Always, Cat

Great write. I agree with

Great write. I agree with mand...there are consequences for all that we do and the Grim Reaper shadows over all of us just waiting for every soul he can collect. I wrote a poem about my sister's passing called `Ashes in the Dust` I mention the reaper in this one. Rosina xena465
