the dodo comes home to roost

outside the shark tank
a bird of paradise stands guard
plumes of smoke rise from the Heron's nest;

a peacock feathers the eye
courts the hunger of another sunrise
for the night is wild and the lion roars
with golden eyes

condemned to sew my shroud,
i am Penelope at arm's length,
my sister Persephone names another name
for the Shams
of my broken heart,
though i am not ashamed
the love i have is a blessing that wipes away
the karma of time,

"I am sailing, I am sailing home again, across the sea,
I am sailing stormy waters to be near you, who can say?"

I am flying, I am flying like a bird across the sky
I am flying passing high clouds to be near you, who can say?"

I am those who die in Spring.
I collect stamen from the resurrecting crocus,
I smell of saffron.

See here, see here, see here you far away!!!

Ann of Norway What have you seen, where did you see it, was it real, how did you manage to become there when you are here? I miss out sometimes with your refs. to modern songs that I don't know-Shams? The sailing song I do know! "the love i have is a blessing that wipes away the karma of time," And then you dance among the stamens of the croci is it (pl) crocus and are covered wit its pollen absolutely mind bogglingly stunningly wonderfully said, my imagination goes in a spin of delight and I am transported into another element, am no longer of this mundane grey-white of Winter but in the exotic south where mango trees house their tangerine coloured fruits and peacocks strut and stamp their feet full-feathered and courting, the paradise birds and those upright still-standing herons reside as chiefs, but where is the dodo? That bonnie bird with its minuscule wings, its stupid smile and its kindly nature, that offer; in all our minds reminding us of the fleeting life on this globe, its doom to come and its total destruction inevitable, even though it will be several millions of years away, it will be destroyed just as the dodo was, eaten up by the greedy travelling sailors who found a bird with no fear. But this is a plea and as such a most lovely one showing the frustration and hurt, fear and wondering, at the why, I know dear Anna and I know the feelings too. Excruciating. Love to my dear sister in need, Ann XXOO
