Old Things Made New...

Thinking of a way to say
What a marvelous relationship
Not really obvious
To some

I don't want to use the same old lines
The same old cliches
They aren't good enough for you
They aren't what you deserve

I want to exclaim glorious colors
Show you the stars
A palette magical
Paint the heavens

A renewal of sight
Spurred by my  overwhelming emotions
Focused in depth
Do you see my heart

You make my life complete
Love fills my cup
On each and every day
I need nothing more

I have NO idea what Sapphic

I have NO idea what Sapphic poetry is but this I think was definitely one of your best that are posted here, Gee...awesome!!! I quite enjoyed it...lovey without being overly romantic and that sort of sickly stuff LOL Kept it simple too...rock on!!! Peace

From what I...

understand, you have to make the first and third lines mate and together express a whole thought. The whole poem slowly comes to a conclusive end. I think I got it right. Thanks for the read, keep on keeping on, ~ Gee

you got me, you passionate old bastard

you know how I feel about love poetry in general but this poem proves there is still a reason to try. Just a couple of word choices, IMO, could be improved I want to exclaim beautiful colors [beautiful is a crappy word in poetry. Scintillating? eternal? streaming? a spectrum of?] Spurred by emotion [emotion- which one? that word bugs me here, a bit trite] Cheers, Jess, reprehensibly irrepressible

Weird Elf

Ann of Norway I see what you mean by the use of beautiful here and oddly enough(!!!!!!) I agree with you, it should, in this very poem, be another word, a zany coloured word of some sort yes!! Yours-hopping in here- Ann.

I agree, beautiful wasn't the right word...

So I used [glorious]. I think that word has more power, and still fits with the line. Maybe I will try another, if I find one more suitable. Thanks so much, my Queen. ~ Sir Gee

Coming from you...

that is a huge compliment! I agree that beautiful is one of those overused words that I was trying to avoid. I think [glorious] says what I wanted to say, but doesn't leave one wondering what the word [scintillating] means, and still lends a majestic, sweeping air about the line. I kept emotion, and added an S along with the word [overwhelming]. Thank you, ~ Gee

AW! Top as we say in Norway, just top Sir Knight

Ann of Norway Sir Geezer the first, he gained his colours with such flourish and such verve he never swerved in constancy and love, his valour we admire, his devotion we aspire, his love for ever and a day, he's just a kind knight made that way. My colours to your plume my Knight of the realm, I curtsey to you and at the same time blush!! Your Queen Anne as elected by you. With-dare I say it- LOVE. XXXOOO

Romantic...

I hope that I show everyone just how much I love my wife. I try hard to let her know, how much I appreciate her, and when a chance comes along, like Valentines Day, I try extra hard. She wore the errings that I gave her to work, so that she could show them off to her co-workers. She loved the poem that I wrote for her. I know! I let elf know that I considered his comment high-praise! It was my first real effort at Sapphic poetry. I think I understand the concept, but really am not sure if I got it right. I hope that someone that knows, will comment. Thanks for the read, and comments. ~ Gee
