feast on art, Knightly Museum
feast on art, knightly museum…
Welcome to our lovely museum,
please leave with what you came.
Stimulation of the mind you’ll find,
intellectual education our aim.
We stare, as if our eyes are dining,
hungering at a feast of Matisse.
Biting on a tasty Botticelli,
devouring every yummy last piece.
Our palate becomes a canvas,
a brush for fork and knife.
Attacking Whistler’s field of corn,
yet Da Vinci remonstrated for still life
While our Cassatt is being sated,
on this giant table of Millet.
Force fed by Rubens and Lowry,
eating up, all of our Fouquet.
When back in the line for Degas,
Monet tells the eyes what to eat.
It’s the Cezanne we are seeing,
so happy Piette is now complete.
This Kandinsky, a last performance,
we can never Chagall again.
Into this Cabanel of beauty,
where Picasso now would reign.
Van Gogh then cuts up Vermeer
and Lautrec ties laces real tight.
Canaletto spoons for the blind,
on such a fortuitous night.
Our leaving draws a large Caravaggio,
so we say goodbyes to Renoir.
Our thanks Lancret, Goya, and Giotto,
tonight we can’t have anymore .
Exiting through the halls of Rembrandt,
out onto the streets of Flemalle.
Wave to the corner of El Greco,
we’re all sad at our curtain call.
