sunrise

Shades of black.

Spectres of shadows

clinging

around the shapes of things to come.

Slowly creeping golden

warmth and gentleness,

rouses the glow

reveals the colours

of spirit.

A spark, a pinpoint ignition,

a fire across the horizon,

while a single laser ray precedes

golden Apollo.

Tyrian jacaranda

reigning purple.

An Emperor against the azure

single-mindedly painting the emerald.

Pure black and chaste white magpies exist

to reflect in the still grey water

and behind, a rainbow of

rich coloured

ever-changing transparent veils

adorns the brightening horizon.

Polished new dew on blood red rose.

Silver drops reflect nuances of

colours of every hue.

The deep rich beginning

of

the kaleidoscope of creation

re-lived

every morning

at my backdoor.

About This Poem

About the Author

Region, Country: Western Australia, AUS

Favorite Poets: Favourite poets? So many, so varied. I like particular songs, not necessarily the singer... and the same goes for poetry. I can honestly say though, that Alfred Noyes' The Highwayman was what inspired my love of poetry - my mother began reading it to me when I was still a baby, and it became my favourite bedtime story

Wow this sounds very

Wow this sounds very familar. I would like to know where you got your inspiration? We all do see the dawn. But it so close, you have caught my attention. Yours definatly has a differant twist. Lots of colors and expanded. I liked your poem. This is mine Dawning Day trip,
Crisp,
Damp,

A cool Silent suspense,
  holding a mystery of anticipation.

Eloquence renewed,
  dancing an age old welcome.

Calling with a tender kiss of promise.

Each dawn a daily encore,
overflowing from a wellspring of color.

Prayer's painted with-in every moment.

Savage souls written in ancient patterns.

Feeling,
Learning,
  each awakening shade.

Birthing a regal purple patch,
threaded by Lavender and lilac ribbon's.

Ripening like a sweet succulent Plum,
cleansing the pitch of night with Apollo's light.

An ever evolving Blood Mandarin prose,
punctuated delicately with Apricot and Marigold.

The Celestial waves of Aqua heralding,
Cerulean and Azure Blessings over the horizon.

Every morning suggesting a golden purpose.

Each Dawning offering inspiration,
illuminating a fresh and new Day trip.

A painted lady.

Ann of Norway A painted lady is the name of a butterfly, but here it is you who are the painter and you have painted the butterfly's wings, those with so many wonderful colours on them all of which you have used here, and those magpies have their hidden colours in their dinner jackets as they sip at your bird bath and flash the purples and greens of their seemingly black feathers. None of which we could see without the sun. Sunrise flaming the worlds garden each day and inspiring the poet. Slightly repetitive of the world being woken or coming to life. The Emperor was where my mind immediately s aw the Emperor butterfly and made the correlation. "rich crimsons and scarlets and pinks below vibrant yellows through browns, with graphic grey stretched to Heraldry blue, in ever-changing transparent veils adorn the brightening horizon." So richly coloured and then the reflecting dew drops lovely. "Silver drops of polished new dew on blood red rose. Reflecting nuances of blues and greens and golden tones of yellows. Colours of every hue" Wow what a palette you have in your head Judyanne, what a painting for us to see and its all there for free, this everlasting circumambulating of the sun isn't that 'out of this world' magic. Not so keen on creation! Great visions. With love from Ann

Thanks Shan and Rosina. This

Thanks Shan and Rosina. This poem actually frustrates me for I have so much more feeling for the sunrise than I was able express. You're both very kind in your comments. Judy

This is a night and day

This is a night and day differance Judy, and definetly stands on its own. I am quite surprised and very pleased to have witnessed such growth. I love your revision of your colorful decriptive dawn. It is now a very moving and directed piece. Focused. It was good. Now it is great. Thank you so much for painting such a bueatiful picture. Julie D.D.

Poetic license comes into

Poetic license comes into play, its your call Judy. I like your trimmed version, to me, it feels more focused. Even though a little less descriptive, packs more punch. For me. And you showed up here as a very mature poet with much to offer a growing community. We may have similar view of the dawn, as does the rest of the world. But when you get in to interputing vision, there is so much to consider. In the long run, you are the writer and visionist behind it. I say if you like the first, then you absolutely should ignore me and go with the first. Julie D.D.

What a way to wake up

It is one thing to allow your eyes to see that in the morning. It is another to tell us all about it. I am glad you did. If I had a backdoor, I would be looking out and hope to see this too.
