lovers rain
when the earth turns its face to fire
less dark beside me you lay
i feed the morning into your mouth
you swallow and grow light
when i reach
you wander from my bed
into the heat of every lover
shy in clouds you feed me with trees
and flow into me with tongues of mountains
you return to me in pools of water
then i know the night, before you are fed
i reached again
into your raining eyes
and you poured into me a parting cloud
such a deeper truth i entered
at your return
transforming me into your lover again
and I touched you again as your moon dress fell
upon the water my eyes gave you
filling my mouth with yours
you rain into me all things growing
alive and together
