communion of the heart

I yield to the earth
in supplication to nature
with worship in each breath

listening to a sermon
of kookaburras
as a kangaroo bounds out
a plate for tithe

I see goannas parade
the ancient rites
and koalas swoon
with the new age gospel
waving their faces,
and hanging from their mouths

and the platypus
monks of cold,
carry the testaments
to the deepest hovels

living with just one heart
I can breathe a tide,
and find home

I can breathe a tide,

Ann of Norway In one breath you sweep the whole of 'creation' and include the animals and birds those closest to you in your Australia "I yield to the earth in supplication to nature with worship in each breath"...so beautifully put. "living with just one heart I can breathe a tide, and find home".......................tide and time, breath and home. We love your poetry as I said dearest Jayne, and this one is no exception. You speak with the animals and the native peoples of your land.

Was just...

joking hun. But thinking about it, I thought that maybe it would be a good idea. We have so much to learn from the animals. I have attended many different types of religious services, trying to get a sense of what people find in them. It would be a good thing to see what the animals have to say about what they believe in. I think that if they were to run the world, we would be better off! LOL. Lotta love and higger bugs, ~ Gee

God's creatures...

Ace poem. I agree. Our little critters make more sense than man most of the time. They are our salvation when we need comfort when no one else seems to know we need it. Rosina xena465

Dear Rosina

I am one of those people that have always had animals in my life ... from the smallest to the largest ,.. I used to be a member of W.I.R.E.S we get injured critters and nurse them back to health and usually release them back into the wild sometimes because of their injuries the carer or a local animal sancutary adopts them because they wouldnt survive in the wild .. nothing better than seeing sick animals on their last legs running or hopping or flying away into a new life ... love and biggest hugs Jayne-Chloe P.S and your right some of my most faithful friends have had more than two legs or no legs in one case lol I have a pet diamand python snake hes nearly two meters long will get to be much more than that and he will outlive me :) which makes me feel good my son will care for him when I am gone

I love and admire...

people who do what you do. I watch all the animal rescue type programs all the time, not the wild life ones, as I hate to see an animal hunted, in pain and eaten. If I had a big house and a big garden, and of course money, I would have as many animals, lost, injured etc; running around and living life that they may not have had if not rescued...by people like yourself. Xena

You know most animal shelters provide the food and medical supplies for animals that are cared for by volunteers ... maybe there is a similiar scheme in the UK ?? and not all animals need space, like birds (cages for when they are recovering) so maybe its something to think about for later on and I do it because they give me more, than I could ever give them ... when you take care of an animal and soothe their hurts there is nothing that comes close to being that special ... I had a magpie I took care of he came back to my house everyday for years even after he was released ... would land on my shoulder scaring the shit outta me most times(usually when I was hanging out the washing) lol but yeah it was nice to feel that connection with him ... I still miss him he was an old grey maggie when he did pass but he was much loved love and big hugs Jayne-Chloe

I live in the town-center...

of Glasgow in a 7 story building, I'm on the 6th floor in a one-appartment. I've tried to volunteer to help at the local PDSA, but the waiting list is a mile long with people wanting to help that it's almost impossible for me to be accepted. I never come across an animal in need of help, if I did I would. I do help with donations now and then. At the moment I have my wee pet rat Zak, now 3 months old. I had to put my pet rat Xena to sleep, 3 years old, due to re-occurring Breast Cancer, several days before Christmas and couldn't stand living without her and went to the pet shop and bought Zak. He's great and settling into Xena's old quarters, the base of my bed, I don't believe in cages. So he lives in the house and behaves just like a cat or a dog. Rosina xena465

Unfortunately in some cases

Unfortunately in some cases cages especially with birds are a must they start flapping about and I ahve seen them open wounds up ... I hate caged animals but see where there are times they are a must in the medical care and wholey support it ... I am glad you have a pet someone who loves animals as much as you do should have a pet and a rat is as good a pet as any my partner used to have pet rats though my brother used to torment me with rats and mice as a little girl so I am not overtly fussed on them as you would understand lol sorry to hear about your little one its always sad when we loose one ...(huggles) and much love Jayne-Chloe
