Bullets and Velcro

Bullets and Velcro….

Who made the bullet that ripped through my chest,
the Velcro to hold tight my armoured vest.
Maybe it was China, might have guest.
Hope that they’re German, they’re the best.

The armoured car stank anyway,
best outside, it’s a nice sunny day.
Doc, he say’s I’m going to be o.k.
padre kind man to kneel and pray.

Tired, don’t sleep to much at night,
Sarge, say’s adrenalin helps us fight.
Didn't close my eyes, dark, lost my sight,
no sun goes down quick, trick of the light.

I thought we’d won, will we ever,
all this and more, just crossing a river.
Feeling very cold now, starting to shiver.
Going home soon, don’t feel to clever.

Voices sound worried, maybe their back,
hands on me turning, that arm felt slack.
Funny doc’s shouting sounds like a quack,
think I’ll sleep now, no more duties,
                                                                 I’ll take up some slack….

This is one of my favourite

This is one of my favourite subjects, the only thing i thought might need tweaking was stanza three where you use night twice, not sure how you would change this though as i came up with fright and bright which of course dont fit with the stanza. great story vix Optimism in adversity nutures positive outcomes
