ITALIAN CURSES

THE BEAUTY OF THE SOUTHERN ITALIAN….CURSE  Southern Italian women NEVER blasphemed. The names of the Lord and the Holy Family were ..uh…sacred, They NEVER used vulgar language but did have ways to vent their frustrations. Southern Italian men, however, said –and did it all., Those I will not place here.   Remember, I was there and here I share a bt of cultural fare.  Three typical cursed [ all said to me and al eventually happenned in one way or another—Lord have Mercy!]
Also, nolte the ma rvelous use of the Latin hortatory subjunctive. Can  it get any better??? NowTHIS is POETRY.
  1. Che te pozza yettá a bila = May you spurt bile [typical Calabrian nicety]
  2. Che te pozza yettá u sangue = May you spurt blood [nice variation of number 1]
  3. Che te pozzano mangiá i cani =May you be eaten by [mad] dogs
Finally, the most beautiful. Melodious Neapoitan insult: Tu si nu pezzu di stronzu sforzatu di mammate = You are apiece of your mother’s forced shit. God, how I miss those days! IS that a tear in my eye?? Good Lord! Longo
