Keller Eclipsed

The girl is blind and deaf.

We teach her words
by tracing letters
on her skin.
~
The first time a man touched this girl,
did she think that his hands were tracing the letters
of a new and different word?

Awesome, I can see you now, strutting your stuff over the clouds. Thank you for your interest in the blind and deafness because we all are at some point in our lives.

In her journals Helen wrote

In her journals Helen wrote something like this: I should never imagine a man would want to fall in love with me, I would imagine it would be a lot like loving a statue. It was very sad. She is one of my favorite people, I'm shocked at the kind of intelligence she had.

Wow

I have never heard that before that is a very sad perception of one's self that makes me want to cry, I never really read her whole story I had just watched the movie a long time ago and was inspired to write about her. So was she ever loved? :(

One of my favourite ever

One of my favourite ever quotes of hers. "As the eagle is killed by the arrow winged with his own feather, so the hand of the world is wounded by its own skill." Tell me she's not brilliant. I can't even begin to translate that profound intelligence in all that loneliness locked inside a silent, speechless, sightless world. Shells, you did her justice. ~A ~A

Thank you Anna

That is an honor to me. I can only imagine her little temple so quiet and lonely but her brilliance speaks loud and clear like bell.
