shower us (they pray)
It has started now
slow and soft, seductions
kisses falling from clouds
to parched and gasping skin,
soaking into longing
and time spent waiting
for this embrace.
I hear you,
on the roof and on these leaves of grapes,
your silver lines drawn down
beyond my window screen,
into the clearing
before these Mountain Gums,
petitioners at forests edge
white arms raised
as supplicants,
shower us (they pray.)
slow and soft, seductions
kisses falling from clouds
to parched and gasping skin,
soaking into longing
and time spent waiting
for this embrace.
I hear you,
on the roof and on these leaves of grapes,
your silver lines drawn down
beyond my window screen,
into the clearing
before these Mountain Gums,
petitioners at forests edge
white arms raised
as supplicants,
shower us (they pray.)
