Truths, the Trenches Teach
I find myself reminded
by fences that were made,
with rules and regulations
that often seem to fade;
no guts, no glory
no pain, there is no gain
a life, pedestrian !
one battle won or lost, won't win the war
The path that I must follow
has clearly been defined,
they may have traveled the other way
but, to this path they were inclined;
press on, ever forward
you must crawl, before you walk
tenacious, is the mundane !
He, who last scored may not win the prize
I feel my direction drying up
still, I'll follow to it's end,
my burden's light, my talisman
as it happens, is my friend
so, I lead by my example
sometimes you can't get there from here
and difficult, can be the dawn !
If you've got my back, then I definitely have yours, too.
by fences that were made,
with rules and regulations
that often seem to fade;
no guts, no glory
no pain, there is no gain
a life, pedestrian !
one battle won or lost, won't win the war
The path that I must follow
has clearly been defined,
they may have traveled the other way
but, to this path they were inclined;
press on, ever forward
you must crawl, before you walk
tenacious, is the mundane !
He, who last scored may not win the prize
I feel my direction drying up
still, I'll follow to it's end,
my burden's light, my talisman
as it happens, is my friend
so, I lead by my example

and difficult, can be the dawn !
If you've got my back, then I definitely have yours, too.
