Bulwarks of Love
What would had happenedto the growing pains, our frantic, talking hearts, the now lonely sidewalkby the sands and the sea,the bulwarks of love,we daily usedto walk by for more smiles,to more longing, our faces lingering insidethe privacy of our hearts.Ah, those furtive glancesinto each other eyes and faces,in which we found refugefrom our tremulous desires.Ah, the assurance of a futurethat would never come;it had nothing to dowith the birds whose chantingwe’d forgotten, nor the flowers I stolein the trepidation of the moment’s whimsand desperation, but with the wordsI would hear, while the searoaringand shimmering, you tenderly said nobecause we were too youngand bereftas the gray of the skyfor a dream that big.
