Picture That !

Twin boys were born to a lady, fair
on a non-eventful day,
two mouths to feed gave her quite a scare
so, she sent one far away.

She sent one boy off to France
Ahmal was his first name,
with one son she'd have half a chance
though she loved them both the same.

Juan was frail and would eat much less
so 'twas poverty, made up her mind;
she kept the son who'd cost much less
and her conscience was so unkind.

On her birthday, Juan gave to her
a photo of him, as a gift;
but, her loneliness concerning Ahmal
sent her heart floating adrift.

She asked Ahmal for a photo
and for forgiveness, if he'd understand;
for she felt bad she'd sent him to go
to an adoptive, family grand !

Well, a photo never did appear
though she felt her request was, small;
she smiled, as she shed a final tear
for if you'd seen Juan, you'd seen Ahmal.

Picture that

To discard one is cruel. Even if it is symbolic, it smacks of savagery. I cannot discard the faith in motherhood which is godly. Perhps modern world does not attach much importance to it. The poem is good.

I feel like I've read this before

was the gist of it in one of those emails that circulate? Mate, oh mate, if I could reach down the screen and slap you upside the head I would. Ending a poem with a pun! For shame! Cheers, Jess, reprehensibly irrepressible

You’re a strange man, Doc.

You're a strange man, Doc. But I get you, what does that say about me? This clever poem of yours evokes all sorts of things that seem more like a train wreck in my mind. Well done. ~A "What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal." Albert Pine

I had....

...a bit of an empty epiphany, where the void was sooo dense that, nobody could explain or rationalize what was going through my head, at any given moment. "Write on"! sincerely, #{:-{)}8==== docmaverick.
