Restoration

89% of men incarcerated in the us have never known, or had any relationship with their fathers. Strike the shepherd, and the flock will flee, and wander through the night, wander oh' so aimlessly, with no vision or no sight, like a compass with no needle, or course to steer us true, with no lantern to light the way, of the things we must go through, where are the foundling fathers to lead us in our steps, to navigate through safe waters, and avoid the hidden depths to point us in a heading, to safe harbours we can stay, to bring comfort to the weary, and see a better day, so i pondered long, and hard, through the days of ages past, for hope to be my anchor, for something that would last, to lift my head and secure the heart, i searched back to that time, when all lived in a unity, and all would be just fine, what does it take to break the path, of generations trod, to find a open highway, for men to believe in God, to throw off the rags of yesteryear, and shine with new attire, to find my feet on solid ground, delivered from the mire, for the rough places to be smooth, and the crooked places straight, to understand forgiveness, ransomed from fear and hate, to embrace a new tomorrow, to know the king of the kings, to rise above ones sorrow, and learn again to sing.

Me too. Incarceration is

Me too. Incarceration is such an issue for me. It's so lopsided, the scales of justice are never quite balanced. And we really don't know how to *rehabilitate*... we need to teach our children by example--the only way children *learn*.. Imo that's the only thing that works. Even as we each are born with *our unique struggles*. Thank you and welcome to Neopoet. ~Anna "What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal." Thank you for your comment.

Thank you for your comment. Incarceration is the penalty but it doesn't fix the problem. It a delicate issue this lack of fathers and in no way is this a pop at Fathers or single mothers or mothers period. Parenting is such a difficult job especially for those who are single. Its a sad thing to see this rot within families and how the lack of fathers enforces this rot. I hang on to the promise in God's word where he speaks of the restoration.... the spirit of Elijah to turn the hearts of the fathers back to their sons, and the hearts of the sons back to the fathers.

Welcome back...

I am in total agreement with the analysis of the father subject. As to the rest, I will not speak. So many of our children, for one reason or another do not know their fathers. You have been away for sometime and may not know how we are changing. There are many here, who think that we must all be critics, and speak to the proper forum, which is supposed to be a workshop. Hope you are up for it! ~ Gee

Hey Gee thanks for the

Hey Gee thanks for the comment..... its good to be a little more focused..love your picture is that your bike? .... yes its a touchy subject, its not a criticism of parents, more a observation. Its so good to have mentors and how necessary they are. Its good to adopt a teachable spirit, and having someone who can speak in to it and warn us of dangers ahead is such a great thing.

You are welcome...

Yes, it is a good thing to have a teachable spirit. And yes, that is my bike. It is a 1985 Honda Interceptor 500 v-four. It is a pretty rare bike these days and I have had lots of trouble finding parts. My friend and I have made some of them, and have done some really fine paint if I do say so myself. It is some of that flip flop that changes from red to blue, purple and then it changes to a beautiful bronze. The gas tank has given us most of the trouble, with leaks springing here and there. I think we have finally gotten them all and hope to paint one more time. [The paint was ruined twice by the leaks] I look forward to seeing more of your work, it has been quite awhile. Hope that this year is better than last. ~ Gee
