Why are we

Why are we

Why are we these driven people, who write,
tied to the script where we fear a dark knight
Let as all break free with the words we have got,
to live in the grace and place, of a poetic Lancelot.

To often I find we are captured, confined in our doom,
I believe we should react, break free from the tomb
People must be in the light, pleasure should be their goal,
what then betters, a poet’s cheerful words from the soul

To carve our script in the bark of a tree,
we’ll conjure stories where good is set free
Always we’ll sail on the side that is right,
striving to make people sleep easy at night

Hero’s are welcome in our thoughtful prose,
giants will lose battles retreat, bloodied nose
Men all made from steel will our homes guard,
delivering peace so to prosper, lives easy not hard

Leaders with honesty deep in their heart,
serving all, never from their roles to depart
Citizens united, working together as one,
helping the young, frail and old to have fun

Poets with dreams and beautiful fancies to write,
peoples will jump to their feet applauding, delight
Would we not desire this wondrous happy place,
evermore to craft our words like a joyful embrace

This poem is deserving of more than stars or critique. This is excellent and so galliantly the words of which you write. I just say this made my day and I truly was on the same page as your write. Very nice indeed and very well said. Mona
