Nomadic Urges

Do you ever feel like taking off,
tossing it all aside...
taking the car that ain't quite paid for,
and begin a whole new life.

Heading for the mountains,
or some state that's far away,
anywhere... just anywhere,
as long as you can skip today.

I wanna toss it like a salad,
cowboy that leap of faith,
chase down the illusive rainbow,
speed past the flowers wasted.

Glue my eye to the middle line,
go as far as I can go...

Stop where it's intended,
make a new me park,
end up where I'm supposed to be,
wearing a brand new start.

((((((Moonman)))))) I've done that so many times I have skid marks on my back ;-) And where did it ever get me? Here. There's no place but here. Reminds me of an old poem. But then again, what doesn't anymore? It's all poetry. Some of it pretty good, some missed me by a mile. Wink. Love, Anna "What we do for ourselves dies with us. Hi Richard, Geez, I think

Hi Richard, Geez, I think I feel like this more days than not. "anywhere… just anywhere, as long as you can skip today." Yah, felt that way many, many times. Thanks for putting it to paper. Sue

I was there

Glue my eye to the middle line, go as far as I can go… Ahh, that sounds like a dream come true at times. I think we all get to this place now and then. Just chuck in all and start fresh. Sometimes we can, and other times, well, we just have to face what we have and make the best of it. Well done - you present a topic that most will relate to, can find and easy peace in, and one that is visually effective. I was there - soaring with the T-Tops down - wind in my hair - eye glued to the the middle lane ... I enjoyed this very much. Thank you. ~Pamela

thanks for reading...

this poem was written about 15years ago and I was going through an old notebook and placed it on the computer with a different title, cleaned it up a bit and decided to post it as I felt that many could relate to the urge to leave... thanks to each one of you, Raskin, lovely Anna, Jayne, Indi, Sue, Pam and sweet Annie... Dear Richard

I can relate to the sentiment in this one, especially the following lines: Glue my eye to the middle line, go as far as I can go… An excellent write! Yours, Daniel

Hey Richard

Show me someone who hasn't felt this way, and I'll show you someone who's reached Nirvana, or someone who needs serious professional help. Heehee. Awesome write man, Respectfully Jim "Laws and rules don't kill freedom: narrow-minded intolerance does" : Race

"I wanna toss it like a salad, cowboy that leap of faith,"

Ann of Norway I too have done this and the euphoria of freedom was intoxicating and overwhelming; not arrived at by any previous designed intention, in fact I thought at first it was a dastardly things to do, one I would NEVER have even contemplated, but when I did, the cape of extreme loneliness fell away and I became for the first time essentially me. Nobody to dictate or tell me what to do, cow towing to teachers and parents and all who take authority's role, it wasn't long before I KNEW where I should go; France was a possibility as was Italy, but then my heart lead me home to Norway, just Norway, nobody, everybody, nature and snow; and here I have been ever since. My family were very spontaneous and would go on sudden trips, we are always ready to take off, travel see new and exciting places, explore, discover, learn to understand other places and peoples, that's why we are human, perhaps. Good poem again Richard. Love Ann. I liked this verse:- "I wanna toss it like a salad, cowboy that leap of faith, chase down the illusive rainbow, speed past the flowers wasted." Yes that's me. I'll come too, except I won't.
