Bow

the moment when Jacqueline Du Prédropped the bow for the first time the moisture on her chair the understanding precedes the intellect thatthere is only one wayto fall- the one away from the Art was it sowhat I just felt ? when your words slipped from my fingersthe first trembling thoughtvibratingin my hands how I reachedin a groping graspto catch the last tone slipped over the stringand the understanding that followed that deathcarries the greatest weight in lifebut not even death weighs that heavily

Today I found out that my son's best friend's partner has MS... so does my daughter's partner's brother's wife... they have a 5 year old daughter... I suspect progression in later stages for both. My *granddaughter--grandson's (is there such a thing, really as half?)sister* has MD and was or is a poster child for Ohio's MD. I am beyond pain for all but not tears, Molly. Elgar's concerto is my heart breaking. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6wt64X8Am0&feature=related 2nd movement Love. ~A "What we do for ourselves dies with us. You put it so beautfully.

I once went to a little hall in Exeter, Devonshire GB, and with Daniel Barenboim, heard Jacqueline du Pré play and what a performance, at one stage she played so forcefully hat she broke a thread on her bow, this she ripped off in a wonderful stroke and continued playing, she could make a 'cello SING. A very special talent. This act of ripping off the thread fits with the exquisite sound of her playing coming to an abrupt stop................. no more, no more and you put it so beautifully. Heya Molly!

I do believe they made a flim about her and her sister? Her Russian friend, Elena I think, was a pianist who married her husband (Daniel)a long time after her diagnosis. I have never heard her live but I do know she was an excellent musician and her life was plagued with light problems and ilnnesses before her MS was diagnosed and she then severely stricken by it. It is a long time since I have seen that movie but it is a very moving film. She may not of had the strength in her body in the end but her spirit, passion and excellence is what she is remembered for... and you have put it superbly here and immortalised her in frame of writing. You have placed a superb tacet in music on the page but you have her heart strings playing still strong in memory, striking a chord that will resonate through all those who stop and read. I also wonder if she played other string instruments such as a viola or double bass... maybe I should go and research that a bit! Thanks for sharing this piece and very moving Molly. Dale :)

Thank You so much all of you

Thank You so much all of you for your lovely commets. Yes MS is a terrible thing hopefully scientists will come up with a solution and it can be cured. I havent seen the movie about her life but I do love to listen to her playing I love to think of her as an angel that came for a visit just to remind us that paradise exists.. and it can happen that it is just in front of us if we only care to listen. Love and Love o molly
